The Life of Man
Man is born free
And everywhere he is in chains
Man sprouts as a sturdy tree
And his days are all but pains
Man's many desires are his curse
Greed, lust and pain his bane
Man's wants never meets his purse
Needs are met only in pain
A man is rich and has it all
Pride, arrogance and haughtiness his face
Pompous and spiteful he goes about his
call
Death at length becomes his case
A man is poor and has but nothing
Humility and want are but his face
Lowly and poor he goes about his thing
Death at length becomes his case
Man's fleeting life is his only truth
The good die off early and young
His impermanence is his only fruit
The wicked stay up and live long
All men have but a choice
God beckons, everyday He calls
All men must heed this voice
To gain eternal life, else fall.
